Requirements For General Shipboard Cleaner
**Position:**
General Shipboard Cleaner ****LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY****
**Experience:**
Must have previous experience in ship cleaning.
Cleaners used in this position will not and are not trained and qualified to perform general cleaning in emptied cargo-carrying tanks, sewage tanks, fuel tanks, or voids/tanks where toxic chemicals and/or flammability hazards might be present. OSHA and Newport News have additional requirements for workers performing this type cleaning work.
**Reguired Skills:**
l. Ability to pick up scrap iron/ steel weighing 40 to 50 pounds.
2. Ability to enter voids /tanks to clean up debris.
3. Must have no health restrictions.
4. Experience working in a physically demanding environment and area.
5. General sweeping and scrap clean-up ability.
