The Licensed Addiction Counselor provides one on one drugand alcohol consultation to patients/clients; along with individual and grouptherapy in a variety of settings including inpatient and outpatient programs.The Licensed Addiction Counselor also provides crisis intervention and assistswith behavioral health needs and issues including mental illness, developmentaland learning disabilities, substance use, etc.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Provides addiction-related health and psychosocialassessments
- Assists with analyzing of patient/client health needs andestablishes applicable treatment programs
- Provides individual and group treatment/therapy
- Consults unit staff in regard to diagnosis and treatmentplanning when appropriate
- Provides crisis intervention to align with clinicalstandards and programming
- Assigns patients/clients to special programs /or placementsto meet health needs and/or legal requirements
- Provides proper clinical documentation per facilitypolicy
- Communicates to advise, clinical staff on treatment planningand patient/client goals
- Helps family members understand their role in the recoveryprocess and assists with coping and family-related issues
- Modifies treatment programs as necessary based offobservations
- Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, social work orpublic health required
- Current license or certificate in addictions/substance abusecounseling in the state of assignment required
- Experience in behavioral health guidelines, to includebehavioral health assessments, individual and group therapy, clinicalmanagement of patients with mental illness and / or substance abuse issuespreferred
- Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice
- Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicable
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements
- Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required
- Computer proficiency required
- Must be at least 18 years of age
