The Student is....The most important person at MTCWithout students, there would be no need for our positions.....not a cold enrollment statistic,But a flesh and blood human being with feelings and emotions like our own. ...not someone to be tolerated so we can do our thing.The student is our thing.POSITION SUMMARYTo provide instruction, be accessible as assigned for studentconferences (i.e. immediatelyprior to and following class sessions or by appointment), and maintain adequate and accurateacademic performance and attendance records of students - all under thedirection of the department dean or representative.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES, FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES1. Respond toinquiries from students, College employees and customers while maintainingstandards of confidentiality and privacy, in a timely manner. Maintainconfidentiality in accordance with the College, FERPA, student records, and anyother protected documentation.2. Teach approved courses usingapplied learning methods in accordance with the course objectives, theestablished syllabus, the schedule of classes, and other College and programrequirements. Instruct in a variety of learning environments, both on and offcampus, which may include web-based, high schools, and other sites. 3. Demonstrate ability and expertisein one's discipline and enthusiasm and creativity in teaching to create anenvironment that motivates students to learn. Manage the classroom and maintainrecords including preparing and updating course syllabi, course materials,technology, and web-based courses.4. Work with other faculty and theadministration in carrying out all instructional procedures and willingness tofollow procedures, both at on- and off-campus locations.5. Maintain accurate records ofgrades, attendance, etc. and academic performance of students. Maintainaccurate records and possess strong organizational skills. Flexibility to meetacademic classroom schedules and off-campus sites. Maintain user proficiencyfor software programs, systems, and databases used by the College.6. Ability to teach lecture andlaboratory courses and operate laboratory equipment. Monitor safety practiceswithin the classroom and laboratory.7. Attend organizational, orientation,or training meetings held preceding or during each academic term anddepartmental meetings whenever feasible.QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree required in exercise science or related field. Certification from the ACSM or NSCApreferred. Consideration given toclinical licensure for PT, PTA, or AT professionals. Two years of clinicalexperience required. Higher education teaching experiencepreferred. Exhibit excellent English, communication, and writing skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, andOutlook) with strong computer and related technology skills required.Demonstrate the ability to work independently and complete projects withminimal direction and oversight. Any combination of work experience, training,and/or education equivalent may be accepted. Willingness to work an irregularschedule as assigned. Candidate must successfully pass a background check,prior to and after employment. Valid driver's license or dependabletransportation required.ADA SPECIFICATIONSThis position is classified as Faculty and will teach in a wide range ofeducational venues to provide quality instruction to a diverse studentpopulation for the college, primarily in a classroom or office setting.
