Job Description:
Specific responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in Forensic Science.
Adjunct faculty are expected to teach lecture (and lab if applicable) for the course that is
assigned, along with classroom management including preparation of lecture,
supervision of students, writing assignments, and grading assignments.
Adjunct faculty hold appointments, as defined by their letter of appointment, without
eligibility for tenure; where authorized by the Dean, adjunct appointments may be
renewed. Adjunct faculty appointments do not guarantee a course assignment.
Specific responsibilities include creation, supervision, and support of forensic science research within the RU Forensic Science Institute (RUFSI), including seeking of external grant funding, in support of the mission of the FSI. Adjunct faculty will contribute to the development, maintenance, and accreditation of RUFSI laboratories and equipment to support RUFSI research and casework and ensure compliance with court-mandated requirements for expert testimony and handling of evidence. This position may also include educational instruction in forensic science, as well as the completion and delivery of forensic science services (casework), as needed. Adjunct faculty hold appointments, as defined by their letter of appointment, without eligibility for tenure; where authorized by the Dean, adjunct appointments may be renewed.
Minimum Qualifications:
All faculty must have at least a Master's degree in the field/discipline in which they are teaching with 18 hours of course work related to the course(s) being taught. In some cases, subject to the approval by the Provost, a faculty member could be recommended for appointment based on substitution of significant experience for the degree.
