SUNY Corning Community College is currently seeking trained individuals to teach courses in a variety of disciplines including Accounting, Business, Chemistry, Biology, Machining, Mathematics, Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology and Art. Adjunct faculty are able to teach up to 12 credit hour equivalents. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, preparing material for the classes, grading assignments submitted in connection with the classes, holding an office hour for each course taught to assist students as needed, and conducting course assessment based on the department course assessment schedule. Courses may be in-person live, asynchronous on-line, or synchronous on-line, depending on the needs of the department. While course materials are provided, adjunct faculty are suggested to update and organize the material as needed. Adjunct instructors are invited to attend department meetings but attendance is not required.
Occasional meetings at different CCC locations and in the community may be required; travel to conferences and/or recruiting events may be required. Prolonged time sitting/standing working with computers and monitors, ability to walk/move across campus including walking up and down stairs, ability to lift up to 20 pounds (occasionally may be more), repeated motions may include keyboard typing. Typical office and indoor building environments, occasional outdoor activity may be required.
Recruitment for Adjuncts is for a start date in Spring 2025 Semester (January 27, 2025) and in the Fall 2025 Semester (August 24, 2025)

* Plan weekly course meetings and/or materials.
* Prepare syllabus for the course and communicate course plan with Department Chair.
* Teach four hours of class in live or synchronous classes or provide equivalent content in asynchronous classes.
* Evaluate student progress towards achievement of learning objectives.
* Provide opportunities for students to receive feedback on their progress and assist students with identified areas of concern.
* Meet with students in an office hour to assist as needed.
* Update and organize curricular materials as needed.
* Provide materials for students on-line in a Brightspace course, or other Learning Management System.
Advising Duties - 25%
* Post and maintain regular and reasonable office hours.
* Refer students to appropriate college services for specialized assistance.
* Write recommendations for students who need references for work or for transfer to another college.
Other duties as assigned - 5%
* Complete other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean of Instruction of the Liberal Arts and Professional Studies Division or designated Supervisor.
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively in team environment.

* Demonstrates commitment to accomplishing work in an ethical, efficient, and cost-effective manner.

* Proficiency in technology including Microsoft Office and Google applications.
* Teaching experience.
* Bachelors' degree and graduate work in discipline. Significant work experience in discipline if no graduate work completed.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Master's degree in discipline.
* Teaching experience at a Community College.
* Experience with Banner (student information system) and Brightspace (learning management system).
Adjunct Faculty Pay Rates per 1 Credit Hour Equivalent (CHE):
All degrees must be official transcripts. More information on CCC certification is available with the Center for Innovation and Teaching Excellence (CTIE).
Bachelors without certification from CTIE is $834/CHE and with certification $849/CHE
Masters without certification from CTIE is $861/CHE and with certification $876/CHE
Doctorate without certification from CTIE is $890/CHE and certification $905/CHE
