Primary Responsibilities

The Adjunct Instructor will oversee all aspects of the curriculum for a particular course. This course, ATCG 601 is designed to be a foundational course for genetic counseling with a focus on developing clinical knowledge and skills. Topics include genetics history, core ideas of the profession, understanding of the genetics team, referral patterns, basic counseling and interviewing skills, consult outlines and preparation, medical terminology and pedigree construction with emphasis on prenatal genetic counseling.

Education Requirements/Experience:

Applicants must possess a Master's degree in Genetic Counseling and be ABGC or ABMG certified. In addition, applicants must have at least five (5) years of successful experience as a genetic counselor, a minimum of three of which must be in a patient-facing role. Candidates must be familiar with current trends in Genetic Counseling. Prior teaching experience is necessary. Candidates must have outstanding interpersonal, and oral/written communication skills.
