This course covers basic probability, descriptive and inferential statistics, and the role of biostatistics in the practice of public health. Specific attention will be given to common probability distributions in public health and medicine, t-tests, Analysis of Variance, multiple linear and logistic regression, and categorical data analysis. Statistical topics are presented conceptually with little derivation, and applications are demonstrated using Stata and R.

Lecture notes and assignments and other course materials are available for this course.

The instructor is expected to do the following: provide lecture once a week; lead a lab section once a week, coordinate release of materials; monitor student progress; offer support through Brightspace forums, announcements, direct emails, and in office hours; and manage the work of course assistants.

The course runs from September 2nd to December 13th and meets on Fridays from 12:00-1:40pm, with lab from 2:00-3:15pm. Compensation depends on level of experience.

** Qualifications**

Qualified applicants will have an advanced degree in statistics or a related field (PhD preferred). Previous experience teaching introductory statistics is preferred.
