JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Penn State Mont Alto is searching for an adjunct core faculty position in the Occupational Therapy Assistant program to teach OT 103- Occupational Performance across the Lifespan in the Spring 2025 semester, OT 205 - Group Process across the Lifespan in the Fall 2025 semester, and onsite Fieldwork Level I supervision.
OT 103 analyzes occupations from birth to death including descriptions of occupational performance and factors which influence performance. OT 205 examines the concepts & theories related to group processes and dynamics within the OT therapeutic context. Topics addressed in the course, include but are not limited to types of groups, group roles, leadership styles, theory of group development & implementation, group norms, and the selection of appropriate activities based on age and occupational performance areas or components, safety, management of the environment, and time management.
The OTA part-time core faculty member is involved in and responsible for disseminating current, relevant, and applicable information and learning resources to the OTA students in designated/assigned courses. The OTA part-time core faculty facilitates the development of knowledge, the application of concepts, the use of critical thinking and reflective practice with the OTA students through classroom, laboratory, and/or fieldwork-related activities. In addition, the OTA part-time core faculty member participates in student advisement by evaluating the performance of the students academically and in relation to the development of professional skills. This individual annually contributes to curriculum development /review and provides a faculty professional growth and development plan including goals and action steps related to teaching and curriculum development/enhancement. The faculty member supports the administration of the OTA program in accordance with ACOTE criteria and assists in ensuring that the program meets all accreditation requirements.
Requirements and Qualifications
* COTA/L credential and experience working as an occupational therapy assistant is required.
* It is expected that this position is available to teach in both the fall and spring semesters to maintain year-long contact with the program and students.
* If not teaching or assisting with fieldwork, regular consultation may be required for student advising at a minimum.
* Master's degree preferred, Bachelor's degree considered.
* Three or more years of clinical experience, along with a current license or eligibility to obtain a license to practice occupational therapy in PA is required.
* Experience in SharePoint, Teams, and Canvas would be beneficial.
