  • This ad is needed to staff a course left vacant by a faculty member recently reporting approval for long term disability. This vacancy was unplanned.
  • In an effort to staff this course, we have already completed the steps below.
  • Contacted all part-time faculty in our list for possible hire. None of our faculty were available as it is a Monday/Wednesday/Friday 11:15am-12:10pm course and many of our part-time faculty work during the day.
  • We contacted Chairs of History programs at neighboring institutions (SUNY Dutchess, SUNY Orange, and SUNY Ulster) to see they might have a faculty member interested in teaching at MSMC.
  • Reviewed unsolicited emails and ADP resumes from faculty interested in teaching History at the Mount. This process identified 3 possible candidates. We contacted all three. Thus far, we heard back from one candidate who is interviewing for another position at the end of this week and will let us know if he might be available after that interview.
  • Consequences of Failure to Hire
  • Presently there are 30 students enrolled in the course. Many of these students are first-year students. Failure to hire would mean canceling a fully enrolled course and disrupting students' schedules, and adding work to the Office of Student Success staff to readjust all 30 students' schedules.
  • Placement of Ad
  • Please place this ad on the MSMC Human Resources website to minimize cost if possible.
  • Compensation:
    • $2,640-$2,940 per semester
