This requires that Adjunct Faculty assume responsibility for planning, teaching, and evaluating content for specific nursing courses or clinical experiencesPrincipal Accountabilities / Responsibilities
  • Utilize a model of student-driven education by guiding individual development of students; collaborate with students to develop learning experiences and create an environment that focuses on learning.
  • Design courses &/or clinical learning experiences that are dynamic, flexible, and meet the needs of diverse student populations.
  • Focus on student learning outcomes and accountability.
  • Maintain clinical and teaching competence.
  • Serve as a role model of professional nursing for students and colleagues.
  • Maintain appropriate professional affiliations.
  • Create a positive environment for student learning.
  • Provide timely written feedback on students' performance and notify the Course Coordinator of any problems.
  • Maintain professional, legal, and ethical standards for the practice of nursing.
ExperienceRequired: Clinical proficiency in assigned areaPreferred: 1-3 years teaching experienceEducationRequired: Masters in Nursing or BSN with experience in the specific clinical area in which assigned; Current licensure in TNPreferred: Masters in Nursing or post-masters preparation in nursing education; Clinical proficiency; Current TN licensure; Certification in area of clinical responsibilitiesAdditional InformationPhysical Requirements:Work requires the physical ability to meet the demands of clinical experiences. Lifting or performing other work requiring light physical exertion (lifting up to 30 pounds) is intermittent (not a routine part of the job) and secondary to the job.Environmental Requirements:Most work is performed under the conditions to be expected in a standard educational environment.
