Summary

The Department of Health and Fitness Studies at Regis College is seeking an Adjunct Lecturer for the Spring 2025 semester for a course entitled, Teaching, Coaching & Officiating Soccer. The course focuses on the unique skills, techniques, tactics, and strategies of coaching and officiating soccer at various levels of development. It prepares students to plan age-specific practice sessions, provide appropriate cues and skill progression, develop coaching strategies for offense and defense, and manage on field situations. Students are required to develop and implement practice sessions and participate in officiating activities. Therefore, approximately half the course will be in the classroom and half in the gym or on the field. This is a 15-week course that begins on January 21, 2025, and runs through the spring semester. The course is taught in person on the Weston campus.

Responsibilities Include:

* Teach ATH 331 (lecture & practice) Teaching, Coaching & Officiating Soccer as an on campus, in-person course

* Engage with all responsibilities associated with teaching: content preparation, grading, office hours, student engagement, academic assessment, etc.

* Meet with Dept. Chair periodically to discuss content, student progress, challenges, etc.

Qualifications

Qualified Candidates Must Possess:

* A Master's degree or higher in Kinesiology, Sport Coaching, Physical Education, or a related field

* Past soccer coaching experience at youth, high school, and/or college level

* Evidence of prior teaching experience at the undergraduate level preferred

* Commitment to creating an inclusive classroom learning environment in keeping with the University's commitment to inclusive excellence in a diverse educational community.

* Ability to collaborate with other faculty

* Ability to utilize technology necessary for teaching including but not limited to: Office 365, Moodle, library and other online resources.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands*:

* Ability to perform all duties necessary for classroom instruction

* Ability to be active and assist students and children during coaching sessions in the gym or on the field

* Ability to demonstrate and explain soccer skills, techniques and tactics
