The Clinical Instructor will teach in the undergraduate program at a clinical site with 8-9 students with an emphasis on the care of a patient within the psychiatric/medical-surgical patient population. Clinical instructors are expected to be available for all clinical assignments once scheduled during the semester.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Complete facility orientation prior to the start of clinical.
- Create patient assignments prior to the start of the clinical day.
- Supervise students in all aspects of care of patients/clients.
- Review and provide feedback for all written clinical assignments.
- Submit grades for assignments as directed by course coordinator.
- Provide weekly feedback to students in the clinical area.
- Complete midterm/final clinical evaluations.
- Plan instructional activities for pre/post conferences.
- Communicate and issues at the clinical site with course coordinator.
- Responsible for all clinical hours assigned to the course.
- Assist in Proctoring exams if needed.
- Attend faculty meetings once a semester.
Education/Experience
- Masters Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution
- Medical/Surgical nursing background (3-5 years experience), including clinical supervision of students
Licensures/Certifications
- Valid NY State Professional RN license
- Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer or Health Provider
