Job DescriptionQUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:The qualifications and skill requirements for this position include:
- Master's degree from an accredited institution in Human Nutrition or Dietetic Sciences, or a Master's degree from an accredited institution with a minimum of eighteen (18) graduate hours in Nutrition;
- A minimum of two (2) years' work experience in the field of Nutrition;
- Mastery of popular software programs;
- Proven knowledge of contemporary medical and healthcare practices;
- Knowledge and skill in internet based instructional platforms;
- Excellent communications skills - both verbal and written;
- Proven teaching skills with the ability to convey basic concepts and theories in a practical and comprehensible way;
- Ability to recognize and respond to students from culturally diverse backgrounds as well as the willingness to make students active partners in the teaching/learning process;
- Computer literacy and experience using computers in classroom with a willingness to apply technology and innovative approaches to the teaching of specific discipline.
- All instructors must meet the appropriate credentialing requirements for the Southern Association for Colleges and Schools (SACS).ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The essential job functions and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Demonstrate current knowledge and technical expertise in field of Nutrition;
- Demonstrate the ability to recognize and respond to the individual differences of student population and a willingness to make students active partners in the teaching and learning process;
- Demonstrate verbal and written communication skills and team work;
- Organization, evaluation, review and development, of classroom experiences for students enrolled in Nutrition;
- Maintain and disseminate current information pertaining to services available to students throughout the college;
- Participate in, and contribute to, curriculum development by planning, developing, and evaluating new and existing courses and curriculum.;
- Familiarity with and ability to maintain behavior and actions consistent with college policies;
- Maintain professional development/growth according to personal needs and certificate requirements.SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The specific duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Delivering effective instruction in a wide range of accounting courses using contemporary teaching methods;
- Maintaining and developing skills necessary to integrate and use technology effectively in the classroom and through various modes of delivery;
- Serving as the member of an effective team in achieving the overall department and college goals;
- Aiding students in overcoming obstacles to successful completion of instructional programs;
- Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned;
- Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, and stoop. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary.
