Description Position purposeThis position requires the knowledge and skills related to avionics/electronic systems including their function, theory of operation, testing, troubleshooting. Successful candidate will deliver discussion sessions and hold lab exercises associated with specific avionics and electronics courses.Major Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks
  • Answer student inquiries through email or a learning management system in an effective manner
  • Recommend selection of textbooks and other instructional materials
  • Engage in activities that facilitate student achievement of learning outcomes, such as ongoing feedback, and consultation as needed
  • Collaborate with appropriate Student Services personnel to address perceived student issues, which may require special attention
  • Attend scheduled department meetings, as required
  • Hold on-site class instruction and lab exercises on scheduled basis
  • Establish and maintain academic and attendance records for student files
  • Submit attendance, grades, student evaluations, and all other required documentation and reports per established department procedures and deadlines
  • Actively utilize proven student learning and retention techniques acceptable to the college.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly classroom and lab
  • Assist Program Coordinator in development of curriculum related course materials and training aids
  • Develop and improve discussion material and lab exercises as needed to maintain currency with technological trends
  • Help students in acquiring practical skills related to conducting experiments and standardized testing of avionic systems, interpret results and prepare standard lab reports
  • Collect assessment related data, prepare course assessment reports and utilize the results of assessment to improve student learning through the course by incorporating suitable action plan
  • Work with the lab technician to perform equipment configuration audit and order supplies as needed
  • Hold discussion sessions and conduct lab exercises
  • Must be able to comply with program continuous improvement efforts and prepare formal course assessment reports as per the procedures established by the department
  • Interact professionally with students, faculty and other employees

  • Master degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or related field, or a combination of a Master degree with related avionics/electronics work experience.
Professional Skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills including class discussion using presentation software and classroom technology and equipment demonstration skills.
  • Knowledge of AC and DC Electronics, Solid State Electronics, Digital Electronics, Basic Wiring, Communication Theory, Navigation Systems, Gyroscopes and Autopilot Systems, Pulse Microwave Systems, and troubleshooting techniques. Knowledge of associated lab test equipment such as Oscilloscope, Multimeter, Function Generator, Frequency Counter, Power Meter and Spectrum Analyzer is a plus.
  • Familiarity with assessment of student learning outcomes, both course and program levels, according to the standards of Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology is a plus.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to assess the level of achievement of student learning outcomes through a given course, evaluate assessment data to draw inferences about the need for corrective action and prepare and execute any necessary corrective action plan through the course.
Work environment and physical functions
  • This position is located in an office environment. Generally, an employee needs to be able to sit, stand, and navigate within the office area. The office equipment either individually used or shared with a department is the responsibility of all employees.
Preferred:
  • Federal Communication Commission - GROL License
  • ASTM NCATT AET Certification
  • FAA Airframe and Power Plant License
Full-Time/Part-Time Part-Time Exempt/Non-Exempt Non-Exempt Salary The compensation rate for this position is expected to be:$900 per lecture hour ($925 per lecture hour if holding a PhD)$625 per lab hour.
