Overview
East Penn is currently seeking a Cost Accountant position who will be responsible for managing and overseeing the Cost Accounting department, including developing and maintaining cost control processes, analyzing production costs and leading the team to successfully provide timely & accurate cost reports & information related to products & inventory in support of the corporation.
Responsibilities
* Manage & prioritize inventory and other cost reporting due dates, day-to-day cost requests from various corporate functions, and all other Cost Accounting department responsibilities
* Analyze cost reports including monthly EPM inventory reported to Corporate Accounting & executives
* Oversee quarterly purchased material cost updates to inventory and analyze monthly lead & metals cost calculations
* Review & analyze manufacturing changes with plant managers annually for labor cost updates
* Review production data & cost calculations for annual labor cost updates
* Analyze various cost reports for all levels of management, e.g. Manufacturing Overhead, BPPHR
* Review cost quotes and detailed cost breakouts for Corporate Pricing & Sales as needed
* Provide support to Continuous Improvement, Engineering and other departments that request cost comparison analysis related to manufacturing process changes, new product development and potential new machinery & equipment purchases as requested
* Schedule & coordinate the FYE physical inventory audit at all manufacturing & distribution locations
* Provide inventory reports and details to external auditors, bank examiners, etc. as needed
* Supervise & train senior cost accountants, metals analysts & cost accountants
* Ensure documentation for all Cost Accounting work processes is maintained and backups are cross trained
* Coordinate cost accounting process improvements, evaluating materiality of costs and time required
* Lead project teams related to product costs and cost systems
* Participate on APQP and project teams as needed
* Schedule & coordinate regular tours of EPM manufacturing and distribution locations for the Cost Accounting department
* Review gross profit analysis compiled for sales & executives
Qualifications
Experience & Qualifications
* 5+ years' experience at a supervisory, management, or senior professional level role in Cost Accounting, Corporate Accounting or Finance
Education/Certification
* Bachelor's degree required, preferable in Accounting or Finance
* CPA, CGMA, CMA preferred

* Strong analytical abilities and a deep understanding of variance analysis
* Cost accounting methods and understand of systems used to accumulate costs
* Knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
* Ability to clearly communicate, explain and answer complex financial and cost accounting information to technical and non-technical stakeholders
* Success defining and improving business processes and streamlining operations
* Prioritize and manage cost requests, due dates and requirements
* Meaningful and successful experience collaborating with peer leaders to achieve company goals and performance expectations
* Strong financial acumen: understands the impact of business changes on current cost systems & reports and proactively supervise improvements to processes & reports to incorporate the changes
* Leveraging knowledge of problem-solving tools and methodologies to drive projects to completion effectively and efficiently
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills including public speaking and presenting abilities
* Demonstrated capability to lead teams in resolving business problems, making decisions, and identifying priorities; ability to effectively coach and mentor cost accounting staff members
* Exceptional interpersonal skills: a team player with proven ability to work across functional areas and all levels of the organization
* Ability to meet deadlines consistently while ensuring accuracy in data collection, analysis and reporting
* Is unafraid to respectfully challenge the status quo by providing new ideas and solutions
* Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Office, Excel and Teams
