The Information Technology Administration Associate role involves managing the IT budget, assisting in IT security, analyzing data, and developing strategies to protect the agency from cyber-attacks. This position will report to the IT Director. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in math or accounting, coupled with a deep understanding of computer security concepts and practical experience in identifying and mitigating security threats.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop, manage, and monitor the IT budget.
* Apply basic budget concepts to ensure efficient allocation of resources.
* Use advanced Excel skills for financial modeling and analysis.
* Understand and apply computer security concepts to safeguard the agency's IT infrastructure.
* Identify weaknesses and vulnerabilities in the system and responsible to apply patches to all servers within TRS infrastructure.
* Implement strategies to protect the agency against security threats, including phishing and other scams.
* Design and create algorithms to analyze data and logs.
* Use scripting languages such as C++, Java, HTML, and Python for data analysis and automation tasks.
* Utilize Tableau for data visualization and reporting.
* Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels to evaluate IT-related requests and question requests.
* Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure alignment with the agency's goals.
* Provide clear and concise reports and presentations to senior management.
Minimum Qualifications
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university including or supplemented by 12 credits in mathematics, statistics, accounting, and/or actuarial science and four years of satisfactory full-time experience implementing the provisions of a retirement plan involving the use of mathematical, statistical, actuarial or accounting computations, 18 months of which must have been in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity or supervising professionals implementing the provisions of a retirement plan involving the use of mathematical, statistical, actuarial or accounting computations; or
2. An associate degree or 60 credits from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by 12 credits in mathematics, statistics, accounting and/or actuarial science and six years of satisfactory full-time experience as indicated in 1 ; or
3. Education and/or experience equivalent to 1 or 2 above. However, all candidates must have 60 credits from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by 12 credits in mathematics, statistics, accounting and/or actuarial science and the 18 months of experience in a supervisory, administrative, managerial or executive capacity as described in 1 above.
Preferred Skills
* Strong mathematical or accounting background. - Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office suite. - Hands-on experience with Python. - Knowledge of scripting in C++, Java, or HTML. - Experience with Tableau is a plus. - Understanding of computer security concepts and the ability to apply them. - Ability to recognize and address security scams, such as phishing. - Strong problem-solving skills. - Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.

Residency Requirement
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
