Position Summary
Columbia University Psychiatry Department is seeking an experienced Administrative Aide to handle revenue cycle tasks in the Epic System. The role will entail multiple revenue cycle functions and tasks.
Responsibilities
- Obtain prior authorization for all outpatient visits primarily consult services but not limited to other sites.
- Compile and analyze ad-hoc reports in several systems such as Cognos and Epic.
- Handle escalated customer inquiries, disputes and complaints in a professional and courteous manner.
- Assigning, coordinating and reviewing the work of others if needed; training new lower-level support staff.
- Service as a liaison between department and outsourcing vendors to resolve payment and refund issues.
- Review and resolve multiple revenue cycle work queues.
- Review and resolve daily payment and refund issue logs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree plus two to three years of related experience or equivalent in education and/or business experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Electronic Health Record experience, preferred.
- Knowledge of Cognos reporting system, preferred.
- Experience in report compiling and analysis preferred.
Other Requirements
- Must successfully complete all online systems training requirements.
- Knowledge of Epic system.
- Overall understanding of how the insurance plans work, including referrals and prior authorizations, required.
- Ability to meet deadlines and organizational skills.
- Knowledge with medical terminology specifically pertaining to CPT 4 and ICD 10 codes.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to use independent judgment.
- Computer literate and knowledge of current Microsoft applications; Excel pivot tables, etc.
- Strong customer service oriented and ability to work with outside vendors.
