That's why we hire the best people and work hard to keep them as a part of our family.About the Position: Full-Time Administrative AssistantThe Academic Development Specialist is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, aligning, and controlling services of the childcare program, exercising best judgment and decision-making as delegated. Under the general supervision of the Director of Academic Development, the Academic Development Specialist trains center team members to operate the childcare program in conformance with The Pillars policies and procedures and state childcare licensing provisions.The Pillars Christian Learning Center was established to offer secure, innovative, and compassionate care for the community's children from infants to age 12. All programs focus on the children's academic, physical, and spiritual development.   • Support the Director of Academic Development in the implementation of strategic goals and collaboration with other departments.
  • Coach and train team members with federal, state, and local rules, regulations, and licensing requirements.
  • Provide technical assistance, coaching & training in person, by phone, electronically, and through email.
  • Plan, develop, and implement customized curriculum for school-age children, including after-school care activities and public-school closures.
  • Demonstrate coaching and training strategies to support teachers in being capable and confident in supporting their student goals and outcomes.
  • Conduct program assessment, identify teacher strengths and areas for improvement and create individual training plans as needed.
  • Assist in creating streamlined practices and procedures for new center openings.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with the Director of Academic Development and provide updates on program needs regularly.
  • Assist administration with the successful completion of NAEYC and TRS compliance.
  • Assist in planning, developing, scheduling, and/or providing ongoing in-service training and evaluation of teachers.
  • Plan, develop, and oversee Learning Journey and Camp Create programs.
  • Assist in facilitating third-party mentorship programs, and parent-teacher conferences to ensure all facilities meet The Pillars guidelines and standards for quality education.
  • Maintain professionalism, integrity, compassion, and sound judgment, creating and encouraging positive relationships across departments.

The expectation will be for a minimum of 2 days a week in our centers mentoring and coaching teams.Physical RequirementsThe physical demands described here represent those that a team member must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.This position will require long periods of sitting at a desk. The team member is occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The team member must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.TravelLocal travel is occasionally needed for training and staff development activities. Occasional overnight travel may be needed for conference attendance. Occasional travel will be required to attend in person meeting with our Mission team located in San Antonio, TX.RequirementsRequired Education and Experience
  • Meet HHSC minimum education and experience requirements for the Director position.
  • Thorough understanding of child development and best practices
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Two years of experience in childcare administration
  • Sales and/or marketing experience
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Meet minimum age, education, background check, and medical qualifications for Directors established by DFPS Licensing.
  • Complete annual training as required by DFPS licensing.
  • Obtain and maintain DFPS director certification.
  • If transporting children, a Class C driver's license with a clear Department of Public Safety record and two hours of transportation training annually.
