JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:The College of the Liberal Arts is searching for an Administrative Assistant to provide support in the areas of grants and contracts, purchasing, and event support.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Grants and Contracts: Work closely with the grants and contracts team on all related tasks, including (but not limited to) consulting with and advising principal investigators, initiating advance account requests, monitoring project ends dates - request extensions, and post-award management.
  • Purchasing: Responsible for advanced purchasing and reconciliation for items, such as lab materials, travel and research supplies, and equipment needs.
  • Secondary Support for School/Department Events: Assist faculty and administrative team on the logistical planning and execution for events (e.g., securing flights, hotel reservations for guests, meeting space, and catering). Assist with technical support for virtual events and meetings, including Zoom links, advance set-up, communication with presenters, and registration processes. Liaise with facility staff.
The Administrative Assistant will primarily provide administrative support to the Department of Anthropology and the School of Labor and Employment Relations.The Administrative Assistant will work both independently, as well as collaborate/have support of the administrative team when completing the position's responsibilities. Education and Experience:This position will be filled at the level of Intermediate Support or Senior Support, depending on the final applicant's experience and education. The Intermediate Support level requires a minimum of a High School Diploma/GED or Vocational Training/Degree for education plus two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional education and/or experience are required for higher-level positions.Additional Qualifications:

  • Excellent organizational, customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel
