ANNOUNCEMENT

Southwestern Illinois College is accepting applications for the SWIC Educational Employee full-time, union position of Administrative Assistant - Success Programs.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

In accordance with the Mission and Values of Southwestern Illinois College, this position involves a variety of skills needed to provide administrative support to the Director in the form of administrative assistant, budgetary, technical and supervisory work that involves complex work methods requiring a high degree of proficiency. Work involves standard and difficult office and computer skills that require significant coordination with the public, faculty, staff, students and administrators both within and outside the division or college. Normal clerical tasks involve the maintenance of budgets and filing systems, record keeping, preparation of reports, and document distribution. Computer-related tasks involve data entry and data formatting together with associated work in the collection, storage, and retrieval of data. Work involves performing a wide variety of functions requiring the application of independent judgment and initiative in the undertaking and organizing of jobs. Support of divisional web sites as permitted by institutional policy and in accordance with divisional needs is required. The work requires considerable knowledge of and the ability to follow college and/or divisional policies, procedures or protocols with the ability to make independent judgments with a minimum of supervision. Some flexibility in working hours is required. Work is reviewed for accuracy, for compliance with established policies and procedures, and for quality of decision-making on tasks involving independent judgment. Involves confidential work directly related to budget planning, personnel issues, student records and other matters. This position reports to and receives direction from the Director of Student Success Programs.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. High school diploma or GED certificate plus 4 years of related full-time work experience OR Associate degree with 2 years of full-time experience is required.

2. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and software appropriate to the instructional division is required.

3. Previous experience in an educational institution and in office management/supervision is strongly preferred.

4. Previous experience or training with web page development and maintenance is strongly preferred.

STARTING PAY AND HOURS

$33,807 annually
