Be part of a team that works together to help students succeed and, and provides parents excellent customer service. Sylvan Learning Center is hiring an administrative assistant who will keep us on track as we go through our very busy days. Sylvan has been helping students succeed in school for over 40 years and you will be the first contact with the many phone calls and visits we receive from parents, students, and those asking about our services. The Administrative Assistant supports the Center Director in scheduling appointments, scheduling students and teachers, center organization, running monthly student payments, and all other reception and administrative functions that support the center. Many of our Administrative Assistants go on to management and director positions within the Sylvan organization. Hours vary throughout the year. Sylvan Learning Centers are busiest after school during the school year, and all day during the summer months. Therefore, our Administrative Assistants work 4-5 days per week with hours ranging from 2:30 pm to 7:30 pm Monday through Thursday, Fridays 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm, and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm during the school year. Starting hourly wage of $18 to $20 per hour depending on previous administrative experience. Qualifications

  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
  • Enthusiastic, welcoming demeanor, professional appearance, and excellent customer service skills.
  • 2 years office and/or retail customer experience.
  • Computer proficient, ready to learn our center operations software.
  • Organizational skills and ability to self-direct and prioritize.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work well in a constantly changing and fluid environment.
  • BA/AA degree preferred, but this job is also ideal for a currently enrolled college student who can handle up to 24+/hours per week.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and produce high quality and accurate work.
  • Ability to create a welcoming and professional front desk environment for our students, families, and community.
  • Ability to learn quickly, especially technology and center systems, and to use Sylvan resources independently
