Job DescriptionThe Administrative Assistant III works under general supervision and provides complex administrative support work to the International Student Services Office staff in its day-to-day operations.
This position may pay more than the salary listed above depending on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. Responsibilities:- Prepares and distributes correspondence and program materials; assists with scheduling and planning meetings and various International Student Services activities; creates and maintains files and databases; tracks and assembles program data; and prepares spreadsheets.
- Interacts with International Students to assist with office visits, student requests, and various inquiries. Answers general questions about International Student Services and responses to emails, telephone, and in-person inquiries.
- Excellent judgment in handling confidential matters and information, discretion, and diplomacy. Makes travel arrangements; utilizes PVAMU accounting processes and systems to achieve office objectives.
- Assists with maintaining the International Programs website and social media outreach; assists in processing program applications.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:- High school diploma
- Three years of related experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:- Some College.
- Experience working in public sector higher education.
- Experience working with a wide range of populations and a variety of constituents.
- Customer service oriented.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to take initiative, work independently and to seek guidance when appropriate.
- Excellent judgment in handling confidential matters and information, discretion and diplomacy.
- Ability to work on multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
