The Northwest Louisiana Human Services District was formed to provide local governance and direction for behavioral health and developmental disability services for individuals residing in the nine parishes of Bienville, Bossier, Caddo, Claiborne, DeSoto, Natchitoches, Red River, Sabine and Webster.
This position is with the District's Fiscal Services Department located within the Shreveport Behavioral Health clinic at 1310 N Hearne Ave. Shreveport, LA.
The incumbent of this position will assist in ensuring the credentials and licenses are current for all District providers, supports the primary source verification process with external agencies and insurance payers, provide necessary demographic and professional information for all district clinicians and thoroughly track the enrollment process to ensure follow-through from start to finish.
This position also serves to assist in ensuring the accounting/billing function of the District are carried out according to the policies and procedures of the NW LA Human Services District as well as serve as a liaison for the outlying clinics. Incumbent must have knowledge of medical coding, third party payers, clearinghouses, Federal and State laws as they relate to Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance, self-pay clients, and other responsible parties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Three years of experience in which clerical work was a major duty.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
Training in a business or clerical-related curriculum in a business school or technical institute will substitute for the required experience on the basis of six months of training for six months of experience for a maximum of one year of the required experience.
Completion of a business or clerical-related curriculum in a business school or technical institute will substitute for a maximum of one year of the required experience.
College training will substitute for the required experience on the basis of 15 semester hours for six months of experience.
NOTE:
Business or technical school training with less than completion will only be credited in six month increments. Similarly, college training will only be credited in 15 semester hour increments.
NOTE: Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.
Function of Work:
To perform complex, often specialized, paraprofessional duties that require independent judgment to accomplish in support of the staff members and/or operations of an organizational unit or program.
Work requires individual discretion in the application of policies and procedures. Duties increase in scope and complexity, and consist mainly of departmental-program duties.

Positions allocated at this level tend to focus on specialized, programmatic examples of work as listed below:
Assist in ensuring credentials and license are current and up-to-date for providers in all District clinics. Gather information required to maintain the credentialing and re-credentialing for all NLHSD providers.
Provide outreach assistance to follow-up with the insurance plans to ensure they have accurate documentation required for provider enrollment.
Assist in ensuring the accounting/billing functions of the District are carried out according to the policies and procedures of the District as well as serve as a liaison for the outlying clinics.
Have knowledge of medical coding, third-party payer operating procedures and practices, medical billing collections practices, clinical operations and medical billing computer programs.
Stay abreast of all new billing rules and regulations as well as policies and procedures of all third party payers, clearinghouses, Federal and State laws as they relate to Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance, self-pay clients and other responsible parties.
Reviews claims for inclusion of appropriate data to facilitated claim payments. Tracks status of claims to ensure proper execution during the billing and payment process. Executes rebills, processes adjustments and resolves any complex billing issues.
Assist with ensuring and verifying client demographic, financial and insurance information are entered in the EHR.
Provide assistance in verifying and depositing revenue collected.
Assist with gathering, sorting and compiling data for various monthly and quarterly fiscal reports.
