Title of Position: Administrative Coordinator - Financial Aid

Bargaining Unit/Salary Range: MSEA Support Services; Level 16; Starting Salary: $21.24/hour (Pending Classification).

Job Summary: This position is primarily responsible for providing administrative support for the Financial Aid. With extremely limited supervision, performs work of a paraprofessional and administrative nature. This position provides support for the day-to-day operations of the Financial Aid Office. This position requires excellent customer service and written skills; very strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize; excellent problem-solving skills; and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion. This position will execute projects in full cycle with minimal supervision or direction; create and maintain a variety of complex databases; query the SIS/Jenzabar and PowerFaids to extract data and utilize the data in creation of documents and reports, and for analysis in decision making. This position will be responsible for the processes and procedures necessary for the effective operation of the Financial Aid Office, including supervising front-office operations including supervising student employees, processing loan application, assisting students with all aspects of the financial aid process including the completion of the FAFSA and on-line master promissory note, answer student financial aid and billing questions, preparation of student employment budgets, and monitoring student payroll expenditures.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with two years of related clerical experience; demonstrated effective customer service skills; working knowledge of financial aid rules and regulations, student information systems and experience in registrar, financial aid, educational counseling, or student accounts highly desired.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* Assisting students with all aspects of the financial aid process including the completion of the FAFSA and online master promissory note.

* Answer student financial aid, billing questions, FAFSA, loan applications and VA certification, etc.

* Assist with the processing of financial aid awards, processing loan applications, while maintaining regulatory compliance. Make critical judgments independently and as part of a team.

* Processing Loan Applications, along with supervising student employees

* Create and maintain a variety of complex manual and electronic files, logs, databases, and record-keeping systems such as student employment database, relevant state and federal standards and regulations, and compliance organization to facilitate retention and retrieval of information and maintain its integrity. Complete information requests for individual students from outside entities (state and local agencies, social service agencies, other colleges and universities, scholarship providers and other third-party providers).

* Query student financial aid database to extract data for a variety of purposes, including data analysis and preparation of reports.

* Manage departmental communication with a variety of constituencies to assure accurate and prompt resolution. Ensure availability of important documents such as financial aid procedures and set up formats and layouts of documents and publications to ensure information is presented in an organized and effective manner.

* Energetic, positive attitude & providing exceptional customer service to internal & external customers.

* Ability to work independently without supervision and have great problem-solving skills.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* Previous work with students in a community college setting.

* Experience using a Student Information System (SIS).
