This is a training/entry level position whose incumbents participate in a formal development program designed to provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to qualify for appointment for a designated Administrative Faculty Program Associate at an Administrator II level.

About CCSU's Information Technology

Central Connecticut State University's Information Technology department supports a campus community of almost 10,000 students and over 1,000 faculty and staff. The department supports everything from enterprise systems such as the student information system Banner, to computerized classrooms, to cloud resources for faculty research. Last year the department logged over 18,000 incidents, 7,000 requests for services, and upgraded over 300 computerized classrooms, while maintaining a service satisfaction rate over 95%.

Position Profile

The successful incumbent will participate in a structured development program aimed at enhancing their knowledge, skills, and abilities for future advancement. Reporting directly to the Director of Auxiliary Services and Cloud Infrastructure, the incumbent will provide cloud infrastructure support to faculty and students for classroom activities, projects, and research. This support encompasses provisioning cloud resources, including services, storage, and serverless computing.

Incumbents may be required to work on campus evenings and weekends as necessary.

Applicant Evaluative Criteria

Applicant profiles and supplementary materials will be evaluated for appointment based on the following:

Education:

All applicants must possess Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Information Security or related field.

Ideal Candidate

Preference will be given to applicants with the following:

* Experience working at a college or university

* Creating or maintaining documentation

* Created or maintained APIs

* Familiarity with at least one of the following:

* Bash

* Python

* PowerShell

* JavaScript

* Familiarity with one or more of the following:

* JSON

* YAML

* XML

* Familiarity with GitHub.

* Certification in cloud technology from Amazon, Microsoft, or any accredited 3rd party (GIAC, CompTIA, etc.)

* Any prior experience with a cloud service provider

Compensation and Employee Benefits

The Administrative Faculty Trainee is compensated at the rank of Administrator I salary level in accordance with the State University Organization of Administrative Faculty (SUOAF) Collective Bargaining Union Agreement.
