JOB SUMMARY
Observes and analyzes a tertiary care teaching hospital, clinic and health maintenance organization by participating in all facets of the organization's operations through departmental rotations, committee participation, and diverse project involvement.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
* Attends meetings and participates in activities to gain a comprehensive knowledge of organizational structure, operations, and goals
* Rotates through departmental areas in Baylor Scott & White Health as requested
* Attends and participates in committee, departmental, and administrative level meetings as invited by appropriate staff
* Conducts and participates in projects as assigned by preceptor and/or Baylor Scott & White Health staff to gain direct experiences in specific operational areas
* Performs research and testing required to know the scope of projects and helps with the collection of data and material as needed
* Presents findings of activities, projects and meetings to appropriate persons as requested
* Attends external activities as available and requested by preceptor to gain more knowledge
* Closely participates in civic and professional association meetings when possible
* Utilizes opportunities to learn about and visit healthcare organizations external to Baylor Scott & White Health
* Reviews professional literature available to residents to gain more knowledge
* Maintains knowledge of trends, legislation, and current events in the healthcare industry
* Discusses issues and current events with the preceptor and other administrators, as is appropriate
