7+ years professional experience as a department, Center or Institute manager in a major university or college. (Preferred) Experience directing the planning and implementation of a multi-million dollar operating budget consisting of State, contract and grant and gift funds. (Required) Extensive experience as a manager of sponsored research funds including government, foundation and private sector contracts and grants. (Preferred) Experience as a supervisor; knowledge and skills to assess staffing needs, write job descriptions, evaluate employee performance, provide direction and staff training. (Required) Experience and knowledge of UCLA Financial systems and UCPath. (Preferred) Experience with database and financial software to store and analyze data and to create financial reports and documents. (Required) Demonstrated background providing financial and administrative leadership for multiple research units or entities operating under the umbrella of a campus-wide Institute or similar type of organizational entity. (Required) Ability to maintain a positive, supportive work environment where employee efforts and achievements are recognized. (Required) Thorough knowledge of sponsored research costing and allowable/unallowable expense policies, demonstrated ability to implement University and federal business and financial policies to ensure proper management of sponsored research funds. (Required) Knowledge and experience managing all phases of academic and academic apprentice personnel and payroll in an academic department or unit. Ability to implement and oversee employment, academic review and merit, and joint appointment actions. Knowledge and experience handling Title 18 Lecturer appointments. (Required) Demonstrated ability to manage non-financial resources such as IT, facilities, academic and/or instructional programs. (Required) Ability to communicate effectively and professionally via verbal and written communications with faculty, senior administrators, government officials and senior University executives. (Required)Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations Bachelor's Degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training (Required)Special Conditions for Employment Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
