Job Description:
The main objective for the Administrative Manager is to provide for all necessary administrative support and services to assist the Chair in ensuring the Department faculty's greatest effectiveness in their primary roles as teachers and researchers.
The Administrative Manager provides all necessary administrative support and services to assist the Department Chair in ensuring the Department faculty's greatest effectiveness in their primary role as teachers and researchers. The Administrative Manager carries out administrative activities of the Department in such a way that facilitates productive working relationships between the Chair and the faculty, between staff and students, between the Department and University offices, and between the Department and agencies outside the University.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Assist with personnel management for department faculty, staff, and students, such as tenure and promotion cases and human resources transactions
* Manage department accounts, budgets, and facilities.
* Facilitate communication within and outside the department.
* Oversee and process various academic-related transactions, such as course scheduling, adjunct hiring, and Graduate and Teaching Assistant appointments and assignments.
* Assist with Departmental communications, marketing, and events
Additional Responsibilities:
The Administrative Manager also serves as the departmental liaison to other university offices, including the CAS Dean, Human Resources, Payroll, Accounting, Purchasing, Registrar, Media Relations and Facilities Management.
Reporting Relationships:
The administrative manager supervises a department office assistant and work study students.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization.
* At least two years of professional experience in an administrative capacity.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook)
* Evidence of finance and budget management experience
* Evidence of strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
* Evidence of strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and in a team.
* Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community
* Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging relative to their role
Preferred Qualifications:
* A Master's degree
* Experience using IAS (PeopleSoft), Slate, and Business Intelligence software
* Experience working with students and faculty in an academic setting
* Experience supervising other employees
Additional Information:
Professional Rank and Salary Grade: SL-3, $57,000
