$32.84 - $52.54 Hourly$68,302 - $109,283 AnnuallyThis position is a Pay Band 80Posting DetailsWe provide a safe and efficient transportation system for the traveling public, while promoting economic development and preserving the environment of New Mexico. This position is with the Maintenance Section.Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two (2) weeks of the closing date. Why does the job exist?The incumbent will directly oversee the Rest Area and Bridge Inspection programs with direct supervision of the Rest Area supervisor and Bridge Inspection employees. Prioritizing, scheduling and assigning work. Assessing road hazards and repairs. Investigating accidents, ensuring proper tools and equipment are available for work and dealing with equipment issues and replacement. Implementing employee safety, preventing injuries, and making sure patrol is in operating order. Oversee and give direction of all maintenance activities and allocate manpower, materials and equipment. Communicate and be responsive to all internal and external inquiries and concerns. Manage and maintain all department equipment and tools. Manage all necessary field supplies. How does it get done?This position will manage the Contract Maintenance Program for District Six, manage the Bridge Inspection Program the District Six Rest Area Program and the Vegetation Management Program. This position will also assist the Assistant District Engineer in providing technical and operational information and support to Patrols, Special Crews and Maintenance Staff. Who are the customers?Internal and external customers. Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate will have experience in the following:- Price agreements and budget,- Supervising - Possess a Class A CDL. Minimum QualificationA Bachelor's Degree in any field of study from an accredited college or university and six (6) years of professional level experience with a tactical impact directly related to the purpose of the position defined by the agency at the time of recruitment. Any required licensure, certification or registration shall be defined at the time of recruitment and will be in addition to the above requirements. If Minimum Qualification requires a specific number of semester hours in a field (e.g. 6 semester hours in Accounting), applicants MUST have those semester hours in order to meet the minimum qualifications. No substitutions apply for semester hours.Employment RequirementsThis position is designated a safety sensitive position within the meaning of the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991 and must abide by all provisions of the Federal Omnibus Transportation Testing Act. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Employment requires successful completion of a post-offer physical and pre-employment drug test; employment is conditional pending results. Must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL), within one (1) year or hire. This position may require Herbicide, Tanker and/or Hazmat endorsement, Business reference check and Driver's License verification are also required, and employment is conditional pending results. Working ConditionsWork is performed in an office setting and occasionally in a field setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT), inclement weather conditions, noise and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Daily contact with the public and/or employees. Sitting, standing, bending squatting, climbing, reaching, kneeling, and crawling for extended periods of time. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
