Salary: $45,077.47 AnnuallyLocation : 131 Dick Street Fayetteville, NCJob Type: Full-TimeJob Number: 202402393Department: Sheriff's OfficeDivision: Sheriff's Office-CivilianOpening Date: 10/22/2024Closing Date: 10/27/2024 11:59 PM EasternSalary Grade: 107Position OverviewThis position performs a variety of accounting duties including organizing, planning, coordinating, directing, monitoring, preparing, and administering timesheet processes, reimbursement billings, budgeting, financial and bank reconciliations, grant and contract management, other financial reports and reconciliations, and other duties as assigned. Work is performed under general supervision with the ability to make independent judgments and decisions and requires a complete and comprehensive understanding of County, State, and Federal processes and procedures related to these functions. Work is reviewed periodically to ensure conformity with established procedures and policies and the exercise of sound judgment. This position serves as a backup for Budget Office staff as needed, interprets rules, regulations, and procedures and ensures they can be communicated to Sheriff's Office employees, and communicates with and responds to inquiries from Sheriff's Office employees, County staff, federal and state officials, and vendors. Examples of Duties
  • Maintain files of agreements, contracts, and timesheets related to task forces and contracted Deputies, complete billings for reimbursements on time, and monitor billings to ensure timely payment.
  • Reconciles monthly bank statements for Civil, Inmate Trust, and Inmate Welfare checking accounts
  • Correctly calculate and input timesheet data in Munis and answer payroll and leave-related questions for Sheriff's Office staff,
  • Manage contracts and grants to include processing contract renewal in Munis, maintaining contract and grant files, and completing quarterly, annual, and closeout grant reports
  • Assist with accreditation tasks
  • Assist with annual budget request
  • Code and process payments sent to County Finance
  • Complete wage verifications
  • Complete other financial reports and reconciliations
  • Completes other duties as assigned
Minimum QualificationsAssociate's degree in accounting, business management, or related field and four years of experience in the assigned program area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Management prefers experience with Munis Financial system. Additional requirements must be submitted within 3 days of receiving an email requesting these documents. Knowledge of and ability to explain and apply the provisions of the standardized accounting practices adopted by the Local, State, and Federal Government. Ability to assist in interpreting and analyzing accounting data and applying analysis to the departmental or institutional needs and determine compliance with pertinent guidelines, rules, regulations, and laws; ability to independently operate in the assigned program area; ability to assume accountability of assigned tasks; ability to communicate effectively and to conduct the department's business in person, via email, and by telephone; ability to gather and give detailed information and instructions based on program knowledge and independent research; ability to be tactful and courteous while being persuasive and confident on County business; ability to compile, analyze, and then explain information based on general instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, employees, and the general public; ability to meet goals and deadlines; Proficiency in Excel spreadsheets is preferred.
