This position performs intermediate technical and paraprofessional work assisting with a variety of specialized office assistance and administrative semi-independent tasks in support of the County Administration department, including the Deputy and Assistant Deputy Clerks to the Board of Supervisors, and its customers. The individual's work is performed under general supervision.
The hiring range for this position is from $18.55/hour to $29.21/hour based on experience.
The full salary range for this position is from $18.55/hour to $37.17/hour to provide opportunity for growth and development.
* Greets and directs visitors appropriately;
* provides customer service to the general public;
* Assists the general public and internal customers by providing information and answering questions in person, via e-mail, or over the phone.
* Assists and supports in taking inquiries and complaints from the public.
* Coordinates the arrangement of multiple types of meetings and conferences; manages and organizes multiple calendars.
* Takes and transcribes dictation and types meeting minutes; checks items for clerical accuracy and completeness.
* Prepares and maintains a variety of office files, accounts, and other records.
* Operates a variety of standard office equipment. -Enters a variety of data for the department.
* Performs related tasks as required.

Comprehensive knowledge of the organization and functions of the department and of general administrative policies and practices; comprehensive knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, equipment and office assistance techniques; comprehensive knowledge of business English, spelling and arithmetic; ability to read, understand and interpret difficult materials with complicated information that may contain excerpts from regulatory and/or legal documents; ability to keep office records and to prepare accurate reports from file sources; ability to perform and organize work more independently and exercise judgment and initiative; ability to prepare effective correspondence on routine matters and to perform office management details with minimal support of others; ability to operate standard office and computer equipment including ability to operate specialized software; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to high school and 1 - 3 years of experience in administrative and office work.
Graduation from an accredited community college with major course work in business management or related field is desired.
