The University of Southern Maine's Counseling Services is seeking an Administrative Specialist.
Our University Counseling Services promote emotional growth, well-being, and academic success for a diverse student body. Counseling Services provides culturally sensitive mental health and learning services, prevention programming and outreach, and training for emerging mental health professionals. Counseling and Health Services work collaboratively to provide outstanding clinical services for students.
This dynamic position performs a wide variety of responsibilities including, but not limited to:
* Creating billing invoices in an Electronic Health Record system for billing purposes.
* Oversight of ordering and billing for the office, including purchase orders and reconciling accounts.
* Credentialing healthcare providers.
* Providing front desk coverage for our Portland campus locations.
* Greeting students, scheduling appointments, and answering phones.
* Some website editing maintenance.
* Collaborating with the counseling team.
The Administrative Specialist performs tasks that are diverse in scope, requiring knowledge and skill in a variety of areas, such as accounting, computer, and administrative support. Work involves considerable internal and external contacts, access to confidential information, and administration of department policies and procedures. Communication includes non-routine matters which may involve interpretation of University and departmental policy. Maintaining confidentiality and the ability to manage multiple tasks and to prioritize are essential. Excellent written, phone, and verbal communication skills are required.
Located on our Portland campus, this full-time position will pay $19.59/hour (non-negotiable) for a new hire or the appropriate transfer rate for a current employee with the University of Maine System.

Required Qualifications:
* 60 credits or more of higher education or equivalent work experience and training
* Three years administrative or project support or comparable experience.
* Computer proficiency - intermediate to advanced (ex. MS Office, HRIS, web).
* Ability to work well with many people at all levels.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize and assign work.
