Job Summary: The Administrative Specialist, under the supervision of the Department Administrator, will engage in a variety of professional level work across a variety of administrative service areas including payroll, human resources, financial and grant services, and procurement and reimbursement in support of the department and departmental goals. The individual in this position is expected to exercise significant independent initiative, use a high degree of judgment, and apply a high level of administrative, problem solving, and analytical abilities. This position supports department-wide systems, projects, and process development. Excellent time-management skills, demonstrated organizational skills, exemplary oral and written communication skills, and human relations skills are essential to this position. Position may eventually supervise staff around a specific service area.   • 65% Implements and executes established policies and procedures for a designated work unit to adhere to unit objectives and to align with established strategies
  • 15% Schedules logistics and secures resources for a designated work unit to contribute to the day-to-day operational success
  • 5% Analyzes data and trends, compiles progress reports, and provides appropriate recommendations or conclusions in support of the assigned operational work unit(s)
  • 10% Assists, recommends, and advises staff on unit or program administrative issues, personnel matters, and budgetary problems
  • 5% Serves on committees and attends meetings, representing the interests of the unit or program

Preferred Qualifications: - Two or more years experience supporting operations of an office or team. - Knowledge of and experience in complex administrative areas, including finance, grant management, human resources, payroll, and procurement. - Previous experience at a UW System institution or in a higher education setting. Work Type: Full or Part Time: 50% - 100%This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Up to one remote work day per week may be permitted after employee completes training. Appointment Type, Duration: Terminal, 24 month appointment.This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding Salary: Minimum $55,000 ANNUAL (12 months) Depending on Qualifications Salary will depend on experience and qualifications.
