The Pre-Analytical Services Unit of the NC State Laboratory of Public Health is currently accepting applications for Administrative Supervisor. The primary purpose of this position is to provide supervision to clerical personnel who perform data entry duties for virological and serological testing services. The clerical team provides pre and post analytical support for HIV/HCV, Rubella, Hepatitis, Chlamydia/Gonorrhea, and Syphilis testing. Many of the reports generated by this group will be used by state and local health officials in the diagnosis, treatment, surveillance, and control of communicable disease. This position reports to the Pre-Analytical Services Unit Manager. Candidates must possess strong communication and customer service skills to support the many health providers that utilize the services of the Laboratory via verbal or written communication.
This position is also responsible for the following duties:
* Supervise permanent and temporary administrative support employees.
* Assisting in development of training plans.
* Assessing work performance of subordinate staff and discipline and counsel staff as needed.
* Entering data of patient demographic information on test requisition forms into databases.
* Reviewing and correcting records for completion and accuracy as part of the quality control protocol.
* Serving as point of contact to local health departments and laboratory testing personnel regarding testing and reporting services.
* Attend various meetings to discuss issues and updates.
* Establishing and maintaining policies and procedures for the clerical team.
* Sorting and mailing of test reports, records management of requisitions, and maintaining numerical and chronological files.
Please Note: This position may be expected to work on an occasional Saturday or state holiday to maintain turn-around times for reporting test results.

SLPH serves the entire state as a reference laboratory for difficult, unusual, or otherwise unavailable laboratory procedures and assist in the development, evaluation, and standardization of medical and environmental laboratory testing procedures.
