JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:The School of Engineering at Penn State Behrend, is seeking applications for the position of Administrative Support Coordinator. Reporting to and supporting the school director, the coordinator leads and manages the direction and activities of the school's office and its staff. This position also provides support to the school's associate director and department chairs and serves as a member of the school's leadership team. Typical work activities include, but are not limited to:
- management, training, supervision, and evaluation of assigned staff;
- administration of faculty promotion and tenure processes, annual and extended reviews, peer reviews, sabbatical applications, contract renewals, searches;
- works closely with HR to complete and monitor the immigration processes for non-US citizen faculty members;
- assist Director in planning and coordinating internal and external meetings, events, and projects;
- compilation and/or research of information for complex reports, including the ability to summarize and display data in tabular and/or graphical format;
- assist in recruitment and retention of both faculty and students;
- maintaining department-related documents;
- composing, editing, and proofreading correspondence, reports and publications;
- coordinating and maintaining the director's schedule;
- representing the school in various meetings and/or committees involving other administrative and academic units, such as Admissions, Information Technology, and Strategic Communications;
- serving as liaison between staff and faculty in the School;
- handling a wide range of confidential matters.

The ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously, to prioritize, and to maintain confidentiality is essential. Professionalism and a commitment to on-going professional development are expected. Typically requires an associate degree or higher plus at least 8 years of related experience, including 3+ years of supervisory experience. A bachelor's degree plus experience in higher education is preferred. Computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, are necessary. The successful candidate should demonstrate: the ability to work cooperatively with various levels of faculty, staff, and outside constituents; outstanding customer service orientation; excellent oral and written communication skills; excellent numerical, analytical, judgment, and organizational skills; and the ability to work effectively with people of diverse cultural backgrounds.
