The Administrative Support Specialist is an independent administrative role supporting a team of investigators handling consumer protection issues. For more information, please visit In this role our Administrative Support Specialist may be involved in any of the following areas: budget, personnel, payroll, purchasing, risk management, finance or billing services, computer support. Duties may include administrative responsibility or supervision of one or more specific department wide operations and activities for the county. An employee in this class has full responsibility for ensuring the supporting administrative areas of assignment are completed in accordance with laws, policies and procedures by given deadline. Problem solving requires research and analysis of a generally routine nature involving the identification and analysis of the components of the problem situation. An employee in this class will exercise a high degree of independent judgement and is required to have an extensive working knowledge of the departmental operations.
This position is typically filled at the starting salary of $41,745.60, and will be located at 14250 49th St. N., Suite 1000, Room 2, Clearwater, FL 33762. The schedule is Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (in office with no remote work).
What You Would Do
* Preparing and editing associated correspondence, memos, and reports.
* Use of various software programs using Accela, Microsoft Word, Excel, Share Point, TALEO and Opus.
* Answer incoming calls on automated call distribution telephone system.
* Respond to requests for basic information such as complaint status; direct calls to appropriate recipients.
* Responsible for setting up department files and filing.
* Responsible for assisting with Human Resources process and guidelines.
* Assist with training staff.
* Assist in trouble shooting situations for the department.
* Process all complaints filed by consumers, using available software packages, encoding data, report generation, data entry, retrieval and other specialized and routine computer operations.
* Monitor queue and track inbound calls.
* Additional duties may be assigned and not included in the above listing.
What You Would Need To Have
* 3 years of clerical experience preparing, processing, and maintaining administrative records; or
* Associate's degree in a related field plus 1 year experience preparing, processing, and maintaining administrative records; or
* An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
* Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.
* Completion and satisfying background checks and fingerprinting as required by the County, FDLE, or FBI
