Merrick operates three main business lines: credit cards, recreational lending, and merchant services.Carson Smithfield, LLC provides a variety of post-charge-off debt recovery services, including digital self-service, IVR, live agent, and external agency management.Position Summary:We are seeking an energetic and proactive Windows and Linux Server Administrator to join our IT team. As a key member of our infrastructure team, you'll be responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and securing our server environments across both Windows and Linux platforms on premises and in the cloud. Your expertise in monitoring, troubleshooting, and integrating cloud services will be crucial to ensuring seamless operations.Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows and Linux servers, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Maintain and create detailed documentation of processes and procedures.
  • Strong understanding and experience with automation and administration of IT services.
  • Firm foundation in monitoring principles. Understanding server health, resource utilization, and security both on prem and in the cloud.
  • Apply patches, updates, and security fixes promptly.
  • Troubleshoot server-related issues and perform root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with cloud architects to integrate on-premises systems with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Implement hybrid cloud solutions, including data synchronization, identity management, and workload migration.
  • Optimize cloud resources for cost efficiency and scalability.
  • Harden server configurations and enforce security best practices.
  • Monitor logs create proactive notifications.
  • Understand compliance with industry standards (e.g., PCI, NACHA, FDIC) and internal policies.
  • Use PowerShell, Bash, or other scripting languages to automate routine tasks.
  • Work closely with developers, data scientists, and other IT professionals to ensure seamless integration of cloud solutions.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (networking, development, security) to achieve business goals.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to colleagues.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience as a Windows and Linux server administrator.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) and Linux distributions (e.g., CentOS, Ubuntu, Red Hat).
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware).
  • Experience with AWS and hybrid cloud architectures.
  • Scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash, Python) for automation.
  • Understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • Security mindset and ability to implement security controls.
  • Certifications such as MCSA, MCSE, RHCSA, or equivalent are a plus.
The salary range for this position, if located in NY Metro/NY State is $75,000 to $84,000 a year. However, please note that the salary range will vary for other geographic areas.Our Employee Value Proposition
