Job Duties
Western State Hospital seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to work as an Administrator on Duty (AOD) - Formerly Shift Supervisor part time position. This position required supervisory coverage of the Nursing Department, other patient care areas, and the hospital in general after office hours i.e. evening and night shifts and on the weekends.
* Applicants must have high clinical insight and critical thinking skills.
* Knowledge of developing and implementing staffing plans for shifts based on patient acuity, patient census, and available staff.
* AOD serves as a resource to staff for solving clinical problems and assists staff in efficiently utilizing staffing resources to meet patient care requirements.
* Report and provide documentation and communication of incidents on the shift to the appropriate manager and director.
* Respond to emergencies (Behavioral and Medical) and assist as necessary.
* Act as a resource, interpret, and ensure adherence to Western State Hospital and nursing policies and Procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
* Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
* Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.
* Successful applicants must have professional nursing experience.
* Supervisory experience is required for this position.
* Strong communication and computer skills need to be demonstrated in a professional career.
Additional Considerations
A minimum of a bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred. Prior clinical experience in psychiatric nursing or acute care is preferred. Bi-Lingual in Spanish preferred.
