DescriptionThe Admission Counselor is responsible for admitting and enrolling freshman, transfers, international, and adult students into the University. The Admission Counselor represents the University at high school and community college visits, college fair programs, on-campus and off-campus recruitment, and conversion activities both in-state and out of state.The Admission Counselor maintains positive communication with prospective students, parents, and counselors regarding admission policies and student admission status. The Admission Counselor reviews and evaluates application credentials for domestic and international students along with participating in the admission decision process for all incoming undergraduate students. The Admission Counselor also participates in outreach services via phone and e-mail serving as liaison to internal departments.Position Duties
- Manages a recruitment territory and relationships with students in specified geographic recruitment territories; role includes extensive travel.
- Represents the University at high school and community college visits, college fair programs, on-campus, off-campus, virtual recruitment, and conversion activities both in-state and out-of-state.
- Reviews and evaluates application credentials for domestic and international students along with participating in the admission decision process for all incoming undergraduate students.
- Participates in outreach services via phone and email along with utilizing new media for enrollment initiatives.
- Mentors and trains newly hired counselors. Assists with the training of new admission counselors regarding territory management, recruitment, and reading admission files.
- Maintains positive communication with prospective students, parents, and counselors regarding admission policies and student admission statuses.
- Assists in the management of the undergraduate enrollment of first-year nursing students and other programs as assigned.
- Assists with the planning of special events specific to the Pleasantville campus.
- Oversees outreach efforts for special populations.
- Performs other such duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Supervision Exercised Admission Counselor will exercise limited supervision of student assistants.Position Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- At least two years of professional work experience.
- Admission/enrollment experience preferred.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills a must.
- Ability to plan and coordinate special projects and work effectively with available technology.
- Must be goal-oriented and able to multitask.
- Working knowledge of Slate or other CRM, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and SCT Banner a plus.
- Ability to work in a team environment are a must.
- Must have reliable transportation for required travel.
Work HoursMonday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Frequent nights and weekends as needed for off-campus recruitment events, on campus events, and special projects as determined by the Associate Director and Director. The Admission Counselor role includes extensive travel.
