Admissions counselors will support high school graduates, college transfer students and undergraduates for Northwood University's traditional, non-traditional, graduate or international programs from prospect to enrollment at Northwood University's residential campus, remote centers or virtual programs. Title assigned to selected candidate will be based on qualifications and experience:Level I (Entry)Expected to perform the roles and responsibilities described below but may require guidance and direction from higher level admissions representative or manager in handling difficult situations or solving problems. Level II (Skilled)In addition to assuming the roles and responsibilities described below, Admissions Counselors at this level will perform at a high level of accuracy and independence with limited supervision regarding handling difficult situations and solving problems. Examples of skills at this level include, but are not limited to developing a list of potential student enrollees and consistently and accurately following up to ascertain their interest in enrolling and assisting with any difficulties they may encounter while enrolling. Level III (Advanced)In addition to assuming roles and responsibilities at Level II, /Admissions Counselors at this level will assist Level I and II Admissions Counselors with developing effective recruitment strategies, as well as demonstrate a high level initiative and innovation. Examples of skills at this level include, but are not limited to consistently meet enrollment objectives, make recommendations to management team regarding more effective (either quality or efficiency) ways to conduct visits, manage enrollment pipeline, and enhance intra and/or inter-departmental communication.Responsibilities This list represents, but is not inclusive of all related responsibilities an employee may be required to perform.
- Achieve new student enrollment objectives for Northwood University in an assigned market channel territory through assigned enrollment activity as established by the Director and Vice President of Enrollment . These activities include but are not limited to:
- develop and maintain consistent referral generation activities
- visit high school, corporate and professional organization
- attend college day/night programs
- coordinate bus trips to campus
- participate in on-campus open house events
- create and host off campus counselor events
- interview prospective students and families
- develop rapport and maintain working relationships with counselors, business teachers, corporation representatives, professional organizations, and related professionals and groups
- develop presentation materials for target audience and deliver effective presentations
- actively participate in assisting students from initial inquiry to NU enrollment (manage pipeline)
- Maintain clear communication with manager on all enrollment functions/activities
- Provide weekly activity reports to the manager
- Provide daily maintenance of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system
- Evaluate transcripts, if applicable
Qualifications
- Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Valid driver's license at time of hire and maintain a valid driver's license while employed
- Demonstrated experience working in teams and the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision
- Ability to travel (intrastate, interstate, regional and/or international where appropriate)
- Willingness and ability to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends
- Ability to work with culturally diverse populations
- Advanced working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Lync, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Working knowledge of relational databases (CRM system)
- Valid Passport, if required to travel internationally
Expectations
- Report directly to their manager to achieve or exceed defined recruitment activities
- Assist the entire Admissions team with overall department responsibilities
- Assure that all required reports and documents are submitted accurately and on time
- Attend campus admissions department training sessions and activities
- Prepare and submit expense reports in a timely and accurate manner
