The Admissions Counselor supports and advances the mission of FCS by supporting, managing, and assisting the student admissions process from inquiry through enrollment; the key priority of this position is to attract, enroll, and help retain students and families who align with the school's mission; reports to the Admissions Director. This position is a 12-month position Responsibilities of the Admissions Counselor:
- Participates in the admissions process from first inquiry to assimilation, including the collection and organization of all incoming paperwork up until acceptance
- Serves as a first point of contact with new school families and responds to new student inquiries with the goal of cultivating relationships with all mission appropriate families
- Maintains close communication with many new families, answering questions about curriculum, course requirements, financial aid, and athletics, and directs concerns to Admissions Director
- Tracks prospective new students using the school's software and follows up with them in a professional, personal, and timely manner, making sure they have all the information desired to aid their decision process
- Schedules tours, testing appointments, and interviews, and helps to facilitate effective and highly relational family visits on campus
- Prepares and distributes information packets for interested families
- Requests records and references to complete applications for prospective students
- Follows up with families to obtain birth certificates, immunization records, and pastoral records
- Provides tours to new and interested families
- Provides instruction for completing and submitting admissions applications and enrollment packets
- Attends and helps coordinate New Student Night, all staff meetings and events, and other miscellaneous admissions activities
- Creates strategies and communication tools aimed at student/family retention
- Assists with testing and interviews for prospective students and families
- Works with Admissions Director to ensure enrollment goals are met while prioritizing the mission and values of the school
- Participates in other FCS events, both at school and in the community, as requested by the Admissions Director, in order to help recruit and retain students
Requirements The Admissions Counselor has the following qualifications:
- Committed Christian with a close personal walk with the Lord, maintained through personal routines (such as prayer and reading the Bible) and in the school setting (through regular participation in Prayer and Share devotional times and other spiritual development)
- Possesses Christian character qualities to serve as a role model for young people and readiness to share faith in Christ with students as part of our school's mission
- Regular in attendance at an evangelical Protestant church
- Commitment to a biblical lifestyle, not promoting or engaging in premarital, extramarital, transgender, or homosexual behavior
- If married, a solid commitment based on Mark 10:9 and positive marital relationship
- Commitment to the FCS philosophy of Christian education and ability to passionately articulate the mission and vision of the school
- Bachelor's degree (Education experience required)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Desire and ability to develop and maintain a wide array of relationships, including a genuine love for people and strong desire to listen to and know them well
