Occupational Summary The Pratt School of Engineering at Duke University is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Admissions Officer who will be responsible for recruiting and enrolling students to meet strategic enrollment objectives for the Pratt School of Engineering's master's degrees. The recruitment portfolio for this role includes the Master of Engineering Management (MEM campus + online), Master of Engineering (MEng campus + online), and, in conjunction with Pratt's departments and the Duke Graduate School, the Master of Science (MS) degrees. Reporting to the Director of Admissions, Recruiting, and Marketing, this individual will support aggressive enrollment goals through a variety of on-the-ground recruitment activities, communications, data tracking and analysis, and document processing. The Admissions Officer will work on the Admissions, Recruiting, and Marketing (ARM) team and will be part of the larger Graduate Student Services (GSPS) team. The successful candidate will be able to articulate the value of Pratt's master's degrees and support prospective students on their path to enrollment. The Admissions Officer must have strong interpersonal, computer/technical, analytical, and time management skills. This is a full-time position that requires recruitment travel. At least one year of Slate experience is highly desired. Work Performed Recruitment Planning and Events
  • Contribute to development of annual recruitment and yield plans and coordinate with fellow ARM Team members to implement plans to achieve the targeted number of applicants, admitted students, and enrolled students to meet strategic enrollment objectives.
  • Represent Pratt master's Programs and its academic programs at on and off campus recruitment and outreach events, including recruitment visits to undergraduate institutions, conferences, graduate school fairs, and others. Recruitment travel will be seasonal and primarily domestic - with the potential for international travel, as needed.
  • Coordinate logistics, support program development, and execute ARM Team recruitment activities, including recruitment events and travel, annual Pratt Admitted Student Day, and virtual recruiting opportunities (e.g., webinars, virtual office hours).
  • Maintain awareness of peer institution recruiting events, strategies, and timelines.
  • Support the application lifecycle - both administratively and 1:1 - from prospect to enrolled student by leveraging a combination of customer service skills and technical methods.
  • Provide administrative and program support for all recruitment activities.
Admissions processing
  • Process incoming applications and prepare applications for full review, ensuring integrity of application information and completeness of applications. Match official test scores, confirm GPAs for admits, and support the review/evaluation of applications.
  • Process admissions decisions and ensure accurate communication of decisions to prospective students.
  • Process visa documents for enrolled international students. Partner with Duke Visa Services to approve appropriate documentation for students to obtain an I-20.
  • Communications
  • Cultivate relationships and maintain active communication channels with prospective students, applicants, Pratt alumni, and others seeking information on master's programs and admissions process in a timely, professional, and creative manner.
  • Triage email admissions inquiries, respond to routine inquiries in a timely fashion, and distribute inquiries to other team members as appropriate.
  • Participate in the design and preparation of publication materials, marketing collateral, social media posts, and other outreach, in partnership with the ARM Team's Marketing Specialist and Marketing Manager.
Data Tracking and Analysis
  • Input, manage, and clean admissions data and perform basic data analysis tasks required for ARM team and other constituents, including tracking prospects in admissions database (Slate), and providing clean recruitment and admissions datasets that can be used to identify trends.
  • Regularly monitor funnel activity and corresponding yield rates and work with admission leadership to develop actions to address weaknesses in the funnel that threaten goal attainment.
  • Assist Associate Director of Admissions in conceptualizing system enhancements to support business processes.
  • Assist and implement special projects designed to meet overall objectives of the Admissions and Recruiting Team and the Pratt master's Program (e.g., graduation, orientation).
