About the Job:
The Intake/Adoption Caseworker is a valued team member with the passion to assist adoptive families through their adoption plan from intake to finalization. The caseworker provides understanding and support to families and adapts well to the changing needs. This position requires a motivated and flexible person.
Responsibilities include:
- Offers professional social services, which encompasses services designed to ensure children are adopted into safe, permanent families.
- Answers initial intake communication from potential adoptive families.
- Provides information to potential adoptive families about the adoption program through Gladney.
- Conducts home studies and assessments for potential adoptive parents.
- Collects information, identifies individual needs, and develops a comprehensive case management plan for adoptive families.
- Assists families in navigating the legal steps of adoption, ensuring that paperwork is completed properly.
- Facilitates child matching, placement, and post-placement supervision through adoption.
- Provides emotional support throughout the adoption process, helping adoptive parents deal with any uncertainties, delays, or challenges that may arise.
- Leads/facilitates monthly orientation groups.
- Helps facilitate the relationship between birth parents and prospective adoptive families.
- Documents activities and time spent with clients in the case file and in case management systems.
- Maintains records of all adoption cases.
Minimum Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in social or behavioral sciences, or a closely related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint and Excel; Microsoft Teams
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends, with travel 10% of the time.
- Valid/current driver's license. Must be able to drive at night
Strong written and verbal communications skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of experience with case management.
- Experience in client assessment and adoption counseling.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
