Position Type: Student Support Services/Community Education Educational AssistantsDate Posted: 9/23/2024Location: Roosevelt Community SchoolDate Available: 10/07/2024Closing Date: Open until filledPosition Summary: Under the direction of the instructor, coordinator or supervisor, the ABE tutor provides clarifying, and supplemental information to students and performs tasks that support student english language acquisition and adult basic education program curriculum. Position Requirements: Bachelor's degree (or higher) in a core curricular discipline with experience teaching or tutoring adult students. Strong verbal and written communication skills; working knowledge of Adult Basic Education policies and procedures. Physical Demands: This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires walking and occasionally requires sitting, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling, lifting and repetitive motions; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data and observing general surroundings and activities; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic). Other Skills & Abilities: Successful experience in working with adult learners preferred. Initiative in working as part of a team to deliver curriculum and programs to meet the basic education needs of a diverse adult population. Bilingual skills preferred. Hours/Schedule: 2-evenings per week from 5:00-8:00 pm October 7 through November 7, 2024 Possibility for extension of role. Additional hours for onboarding tasks.
