Job Description:

The Longmeadow Adult Center is seeking a PT Cook: Monday – Friday 30 hours per week. Position is responsible for planning, ordering, preparing, and serving nutritional meals for the congregate and home delivery meal programs.

Successful candidate must have:

  • Knowledge of relevant Massachusetts General Laws related to essential functions. Knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment, meal preparation, preparing food for large groups, menu planning, and special diet preparation. Knowledge of safe food handling, food safety requirements, Massachusetts Food Service Regulations, and nutritional requirements of elderly population.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage conflict. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to respond in a courteous and professional manner. Ability to meet deadlines. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others. Ability to read and interpret food labels and nutrition information.
  • Strong communication skills, problem-solving skills and customer service skills. Food preparation skills, including ability to use knives and other kitchen equipment and utensils.

High School diploma or equivalent, and 3 to 5 years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and experience. Advanced training and experience in a commercial kitchen. Position requires ServSafe and allergen certification.

  • Salary $22.08 - $23.43 per hour DOE/DOQ
