Adult Education, part-time ESOL teacherGENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:The duties include, but are not limited to the following:Responsibilities:
- Teach ESOL day and/or evening classes, remotely or in-person
- Assist students with goal setting
- Train in DESE ESOL assessment: Best Plus
- Participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings
- Collaborate with lead ESOL teachers on curriculum development and implementation
- Assist with registration assessment and placement of students
- Manage attendance, goals and student information
- Promote digital literacy in all aspects of teaching
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree required
- At least 5 years of successful teaching experience
- Experience teaching ESOL with refugee and immigrant populations
- Experience working with linguistically and culturally diverse adult population
- An understanding of performance standards and effective teaching practices which support the MA English Language Proficiency Standards (MA ELPS)
- Understanding of adult second language acquisition and literacy processes
- Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal and technology skills
