Eligibility Requirements
  • You must have 1+ year of experience working directly with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
  • You must have a bachelors degree in Special Recreation, Recreational Therapy or a related human services field such as social work, sociology or special education
  • You must have a valid drivers license & a clean driving history to drive company vehicles
  • You must have reliable transportation
Pay
  • Base rate: $25/hour
  • This is a nonexempt position & is eligible for overtime

About the Position The Adult Movement and Recreation Specialist job duties include but are not limited to:1. Developing and implementing movement programs that utilizes a wide range of techniques to improve the physical, cognitive and social needs of the individuals we support. 2. Works with classroom Direct Support staff to improve the overall health and engagement of the individuals across the CDS program.3. Assesses the specific needs, abilities and interests of all individuals we support to develop a person-centered recreation and fitness plan. Utilize internal assessments to track recreational and leisure skills and interests for the individuals we support.4. During activities, provide direction and guidance to individuals participating in the activity, as well as the Direct Support staff members and adapt activites as needed to meet the needs of the individuals we support. 5. Ensure equipment is properly stored and inventoried daily6. Accountable for running the Special Olympics program including training and coordinating team events and registration.7. Complete daily documentation in Therap reflecting the individuals response to the activities implemented and progress on their identified outcomes. Location & Schedule Note: Your shift will not vary and you must be able to work the entire shift, every week Location: Des Plaines, IL Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PMBenefits Full-time employees enjoy the following benefits:

Requirements You must meet the following requirements: Pass:
  • A fingerprint criminal background check
  • A child abuse and neglect check
  • A drug screen.
Provide:
  • An original document (no photocopies) showing high school completion or high school equivalency. Examples include: High school diploma, GED certificate, college transcript
  • Residency for the past 2 years
  • Current & original documents that verify your identity & ability to legally work in the United States
  • Two verifiable employment references within the last 3 years
