Job Description
General Overview: Under general supervision, investigates complaints of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of adults in accordance with the ORC; protects adults' interests; coordinates efforts with county prosecutor's office and probate court; completes assessments, case plans, and summaries; mobilizes resources; provides advocacy and interpretation of legislation and due process; maintains case files. Performs other related duties as required. Required Qualifications: Any combination of training and work experience which indicates possession of the skills, knowledge and abilities listed below. Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, or other related social science/behavioral science discipline, plus two (2) years social services experience, or equivalent combination of training and/or experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Thorough knowledge of social work techniques; interviewing; department policies and procedures*; adult services; case management; social services policies, programs, rules, and regulations; adult counseling; department goals and objectives*. Ability to communicate effectively; travel to and gain access to work site; recognize unusual or threatening conditions and take appropriate action; exercise independent judgment and discretion; understand, interpret, and apply laws, rules, or regulations to specific situations; develop and maintain effective working relationships; compile and prepare reports; calculate fractions, decimals, and percentages; maintain records according to established procedures. Job Duties: The duties listed below are intended to depict tasks performed by this classification. Investigates complaints of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of eligible adults; conducts home visits in regular and emergency situations; coordinates protective orders with courts; consults with necessary persons for client assessments and recommendations; informs client of legal rights. Establishes need for involuntary intervention (guardianship, emergency or routine protective orders, restraining orders, etc.); testifies at hearings (e.g., guardianship, criminal, civil, etc.); maintains and monitors ongoing caseload. Provides intensive counseling to clients (e.g., individual or group basis); counsels significant others (e.g., family and friends, etc.). Establishes and maintains case records and data; completes case plans and investigative summaries. Attends staff meetings, workshops, and training sessions. Other duties as assigned.
Hourly $24.27 Bi-Weekly $1,941.60 Annual $50,481.60
