- Works with the Assistant Director - Library and implements a strategic vision and implementation plan for the adult collections, programming, and services.
- Coordinates adult and senior programs and services.
- Occasionally collaborates with Youth Services Staff to plan and implement all-ages events.
- Provides quality customer service, readers' advisory, new patron orientation and ongoing patron education, and answers reference questions.
- Collection development and management of adult collection by planning, selecting, ordering and weeding assigned materials in accordance with library policies and budget.
- Evaluates and suggests annual departmental budget; manages and complies with budget allotment.
- Provides adult outreach and promotes adult materials and readers advisory services.
- Maintains an attractive and functional adult area including promotional materials and displays.
- Develops adult-oriented content for website and social media outlets.
- Manages Art Gallery scheduling, contacts and promotions.
- Compiles statistics and reports as directed.
- Performs other duties or assumes other responsibilities as apparent or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in library science or related field required, master's degree in library science preferred.
- Work experience in a library with increasing responsibility.
- Comprehensive knowledge of collection development for adults; experience selecting, and ordering library materials required.
- Experience planning, coordinating, and conducting library programs and outreach for adults.
- Demonstrated experience creating social media content to promote library programs and services.
- Demonstrated success in interpersonal and communication skills.
- Access to transportation with insurance at required state levels to conduct business throughout the assigned area.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Required to move or lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 35 pounds.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time and to maintain focus on projects such as computer screens or detailed paperwork.
- Be able to effectively communicate orally (in person and over the telephone) and in writing (using electronic and handwritten) in English with other employees, library patrons, and the community.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Climate-controlled office with hazards typical of that environment, minimal outdoor work is required.
- Standard work hours include evenings and weekends.
- To successfully fulfill the essential functions of this position, employee must maintain standard work hours within the Waukee Public Library building.
