JOB SUMMARY:

Magna Engineered Glass, a leading automotive parts manufacturer specializing in glass encapsulation, bonding, assembly systems, and automation, is seeking an experienced Advanced Controls Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for launching new equipment, overseeing production projects, and introducing cutting-edge technology to enhance manufacturing processes. This role requires expertise in electrical engineering, control systems, and specifications.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement advanced control systems for new equipment launches.

* Create and modify control strategies to optimize manufacturing processes, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.

* Perform detailed electrical engineering design, including system architecture, schematics, and wiring diagrams.

* Programming and troubleshooting of ABB robots, Allen Bradley PLCs, and Keyence Vision systems, ensuring seamless operation.

* Conduct system integration and validation, ensuring proper functionality and compatibility of control systems.

* Develop and maintain comprehensive control system documentation, including technical specifications and operating procedures.

* Collaborate with equipment suppliers and external vendors to procure control system components, ensuring timely delivery.

* Provide technical guidance and support to production teams during the installation, commissioning, and debugging phases.

* Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and control system anomalies, minimizing downtime and maximizing production efficiency.

* Travel to customer sites and manufacturing facilities (approximately 25% of the time) for equipment launches and production projects.

* Stay updated with industry advancements in control systems, automation, and electrical engineering, and recommend innovative solutions to enhance manufacturing processes.

* Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, standards, and regulations.

REQUIREMENTS:

* Bachelor's degree in Electrical and/or Controls Engineering or a related field

* Minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field

* Strong proficiency in programming and troubleshooting ABB robots, Allen Bradley PLCs, and Keyence Vision systems (CVX, IV3, IV4, and VS).

* Experience with glass encapsulation, bonding, assembly systems, and automation in the automotive industry is highly desirable.

* In-depth knowledge of control system concepts, including PID control, motion control, robotics, and vision systems.

* Familiarity with electrical engineering principles, including system architecture, motor control, and electrical safety.

* Experience in creating electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts.

* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve electrical and control system issues.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external vendors.

* Ability to travel domestically and internationally (approximately 25% of the time).

* Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

* Adaptability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and deadlines.

* Knowledge of safety standards and protocols in manufacturing environments.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

* Office Environment: 40%

* Plant Environment: 60%

* The employee must be able to tolerate sitting for extended periods of time.

* It requires (Near/Far/Depth/Color) vision in order to be able to tolerate the eye strain associated with working on a computer throughout the workday.

* Must be able to tolerate the use of a keyboard and mouse on average of 6 hours per workday.

* While working in the Plant environment, the employee will be exposed to machinery, moving equipment and material, moderate noise, airborne particles, fumes, and various levels of temperature created by the manufacturing process.

* Ability to travel locally and globally.
